Brand new Heart-Centered Flow drop in class is on Tuesday nights at 7:30 PM. See class description.
This month's Restorative Yoga class is on Thursday, January 26 from 6-7:30 PM.
Sri is 5 Years old! Celebrate with us on February 4-5.
Sri Yoga Center has been a spiritual, healing, and community gathering center in Dayton for the past 5 years. Our 9,000 square foot facility is the old revamped Druids Building located in Old North Dayton, and hosts a mirad of yoga classes, trainings, events, workshops, community gatherings, healing arts, spiritual groups, and more. We focus on self-healing, self-realization, and selfless service.
The word Sri is a Sanskrit word meaning beauty, abundance, and sacredness. When you recognize the power of Sri within yourself you recognize that what you have is enough no matter your situation, and you recognize the true inner beauty of your Self.
YOGA
Yoga classes, meditation, breathing, chanting and other yogic practices lie in the heart
of Sri Yoga Center. Classes here are welcoming and diverse; strongly rooted in authenticity, yet presented in a deeply accessible manner that gives practitioners the tools to live happier, healthier lives. Our teachings are heavily influenced by the Para Yoga , Himalayan , and Sivananda Yoga traditions.
HEALING ARTS
We offer other forms of physical, mental, energetic, emotional, and spiritual healing: Massage Therapy, Reiki (energetic healing),
Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Consultations (India's ancient system of healing), and spiritual guidance.
COMMUNITY
Sri is the meeting ground for community groups such as reiki shares and trainings, drum circles, churches, local artists, and more. We are commited to providing the space for community and spiritual groups to thrive in our local city, therefore, we always welcome others to share their talents, services, and ambitions in our space. If you have a passion to share that would be conducive in our space, please feel free to contact us.

Michael Brown
Co-Owner of Sri Yoga Center, Director of Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Teacher
Immediately after being introduced to Yoga by his brother Chris in 2005, Michael has dedicated his life in service to studying, practicing and sharing yoga. It was the beauty and spiritual abundance of yoga that helps him find Self-healing and transformation. In 2007, he and his beloved Melissa opened Sri Yoga Center.
Inspired by Para Yoga and the Sivananda and Himalayan Traditions, Michael incorparates yoga, tantra, ayurveda and other vedic philosophy into his practice. In the class room, he likes to blend ancient teachings with modern yoga, creating the space for Self-healing, love and transformation. He is grateful for all future, present and past teachers and guides that share selflessly to him and others.
Courtney King
Courtney had her first experience with yoga nine years ago. While working as a personal trainer in Ottawa, she noticed that her aggressive lifting routine was having adverse affects on her body and decided to focus on building her yoga practice. So that she could have the knowledge and confidence to share it with others. She has since completed her 200 hour training with World Peace Yoga. Courtney has been teaching yoga to others for over a year now. She feels there is no limit to what you can learn about yoga and that every day, the practice will reveal new things as long as you keep searching.
Melissa Brown
Co-Owner of Sri Yoga Center, Director of Yoga, Yoga Teacher, Massage Therapist
Melissa is deeply passionate about spreading love and light through teaching yoga. Her roots are anchored in classical yogic teachings, and she continues to receive guidance from years of study with many amazing yoga teachers, the study of yogic texts, and personal practice. Her classes are creative and challenging, focusing on bringing about positive change through yoga practices. She encourages light-heartedness through her unbridled enthusiasm when teaching and practicing. She feels blessed to have yoga in her life and blessed to share her experiences with others.
Aniko Grandjean
Assistant Director of Yoga, Yoga Teacher, Bodyworker
Aniko Grandjean is grateful to be a yoga teacher and massage practitioner! She has been giving warm-oil Ayurvedic massages for over 5 years. She feels honored to give massages and holds a sacred space for each person to feel comfortable and cared for. Her strong yet sensitive touch makes for a blissful experience! She has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and loves its spirit, grace and vitality. As a teacher, she exudes spiritual presence and encourages a balance of gentleness and compassion with strength, focus, and vitality.
Jason Thomas
Reiki Master, Director of Sri Yoga Reiki Center
Jason Thomas is a certified Reiki master in Usui, Karuna and Seichiem Reiki. He has been practicing the love of Reiki since 1998. Before Jason brought his Reiki practice to Sri Yoga Center in 2010, he was leading many classes and sessions out of his home with his two furry feline assistants.
BeTrice Cassada
Yoga inspires me to LOVE--- to love the world around me, to love the people around me, and to love myself! In a world that can be quite chaotic, yoga reminds me that peace and serenity is abundant, if only we take the time to notice it. Ultimately, yoga makes me HAPPY, and in the year that I have taught, I enjoy sharing that happiness with everyone I meet. In every class, I strive to keep it very fun, and exciting. I have found that silliness is not just for the kids. We will laugh, we will have fun, and we will practice yoga as we reconnect with ourselves, and with each other.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "Universal life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Universal Life Energy is the life force or living energy that sustains life of organs, cells, tissue, and blood. As a spiritual entity, the life force is considered our connective flow to the creator. Chinese refer to the life force as chi or qi. Hindus call it prana. Greeks know it as pneuma. Japanese refer to it as ki.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words: Rei which means "God's Wisdom or Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki literally means "spiritually guided life force energy." Contact Jason Thomas at 937 470 3187 or at Thomas.JJ_usa.net to schedule your appointment.
How does a Reiki session work?
During the session, the client lays fully clothed on a table. The Reiki practitioner will place their hands on certain areas of the clients body and allow the Reiki energy to flow to the client. The practitioner will tend to work in a pattern or will be guided to certain places depending on what the client has asked or is in need of at that time. No two sessions are the same, as what was needed in one session will most likely not be the same as future session.
How will I feel after?
A session feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person, including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many people have reported miraculous results.
How does someone learn Reiki?
An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "universal life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. Being relaxed and at ease allows the body to quickly heal itself and become more balanced and whole on physical, mental and emotional levels.
Using Reiki is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development, and therefore Reiki is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.
Reiki is taught in levels that range from levels 1, 2, Advanced Reiki Training and Masters. Each level has an attunement process that allows the practitioner to work with the energy along with corresponding information. This allows the practitioner to get use to the energy and to help them become accustomed to the Reiki energy in their life. The Masters level attunement is the final level that allows the practitioner to attune other individuals to the Reiki energy.

First Degree Reiki shows you how to bring Reiki directly into your life. It is the beginning step onto a path of personal empowerment and healing. Students will be shown how to apply Reiki to pets, plants and food. First Degree Training covers the history of Reiki, how it came to the US, and basic energy fundamentals.

Second Degree Reiki Training enables students to deepen and strengthen their access to Reiki. You will be shown how to use it to handle stressful events, to handle problem solving skills, to enhance relationships in your life, and for self-inquiry. This training moves from the physical, hand-to-body connection to the mental and emotional, hand-to-mind connection.
