CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Agni Yoga
Focuses on abdominal work. Without core strength, many yoga postures are unavailable and unattainable. Moreover, a strong abdominal region equals a strong back, and a strong back means no backache or pain. All this also means that one can sit in one's meditative posture more steadily and comfortably for longer periods of time! Abdominal exercises also stimulate the organs in the navel region and improve digestion and elimination. According to the yogis, the navel region is the seat of fire in the body and it is believed that by stoking the fire at the navel center, we generate healing heat that burns impurities, thereby creating health and well being in the entire body.

All Sakti Vinyasa Yoga classes begin with about 15 minutes of Agni Yoga.

Sakti Vinyasa Yoga
A dynamic workout that cultivates energy, strength, stamina and flexibility by flowing through the gamut of yoga poses - standing, seated, forward bending, backward bending, arm balancing, and inverted - covering the full spectrum of yoga asana. This is a high-energy style, so be prepared to sweat! All classes begin with about 15 minutes of Agni Yoga and end with pranayama (yogic breathing techniques) and a guided deep relaxation session.

SloFlo Yoga
This is a slow flow with a more meditative quality that focuses on developing overall flexibility without neglecting strength; this style is designed to increase your range of motion, and energy flow with a series of intense stretches working on muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints! A perfect way to wind down after a hectic day or to prepare for one. The SloFlo is the perfect complementary practice to Sakti Yoga. Suitable for everyone, great for runners, athletes, and especially, meditators!

Beginner's Series
The beginner's series is designed for those who are completely new to yoga. (However, it is not a requirement to take the series to attend other classes, whether beginner or not.) This 4 class introduction will help familiarize beginners with the Sakti Vinyasa/SloFlo class formats, and to yoga in general. Practitioners will receive one-on-one help with poses including modifications so that they can begin taking level 1 classes with more confidence and ease. The dates of the next series are always posted below the class on the schedule. You must pre-register for the series by either e-mail (info@sriyogacenter.com) or phone (222.7482).

LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS:

Sakti Vinyasa Yoga / SloFlo Yoga 1
Level 1 Classes are suitable for students new to yoga and those unfamiliar with the Sakti Yoga styles. Even though this is a beginning level class, students will still find this class challenging as our philosophy is that challenge is necessary for growth.

Sakti Vinyasa Yoga / SloFlo Yoga 2
Level 2 Classes are suitable for students with a good understanding of the basics. Suitable for students who have studied other styles of yoga, but NOT recommended for those who have never practiced yoga before or for those with serious health issues. Emphasis on building stamina, strength and flexibility - poses are held longer and variations are introduced.

Sakti Vinyasa Yoga / SloFlo Yoga Open
Open Level Classes are suitable for all, although it is not recommended for students without any experience in yoga. These classes are taught in a more flowing manner - less time is spent learning how to get into the postures as the emphasis is on experiencing the flow of asana to asana. Variations and modifications will be offered for the less experienced as well as the more advanced practitioner. The students will be challenged physically, mentally and spiritually.
