Melissa "Miji" Brown
Co-owner, Yoga Teacher & Resident Massage Therapist, RYT 200, LMT
Melissa began studying yoga in the early fall of 2005 with Ranjani
Powers & Leon Lim at Sakti Yoga. After losing a lot of weight, she decided
that it was something she wanted to delve deeper into and began taking
classes as regularly as she could. In the spring of 2006, Melissa
took the 200-hour Sakti Yoga Teacher's Training Course. Soon after,
Melissa began teaching regularly at Sakti Yoga, Wright State University and
took an additional teacher training course with David Swenson. In
December of 2006, she and her husband were given the opportunity to run a
yoga studio, and now they share their love of Sakti through Sri Yoga.
In addition to running the studio that following year, Melissa graduated
from the Dayton School of Medical Massage.
Although Melissa is at the beginning of her spiritual path, she has
completely dedicated her life to the teachings of yoga. She believes that
it is through her daily practice that she can share her experiences
with others. Teaching has always been something that has come naturally to
Melissa, and she has always enjoyed helping others. Currently,
Melissa teaches yoga classes at Sri Yoga and to Wright State University's
baseball team. She also offers massage full time at Sri Yoga.

Michael "Mo" Brown
Co-owner, Yoga Teacher & Tabla Whizz, RYT 200
Michael began studying yoga in spring of 2005 with Ranjani Powers &
Leon Lim at Sakti Yoga. Not only did he enjoy the challenging asana
classes, he was completely enthralled by yoga philosophy and the practical,
down-to-earth approach of Sakti Yoga. This prompted him to
take Yoga Sutra classes, Nada Yoga sessions, and Sanskrit seminars, which
led to his decision to fully embrace vegetarianism. In the spring of
2006, Michael went through the Sakti Yoga 200-hour Teacher's Training
Course. Later that year, Michael completed another teacher training
course with David Swenson. And then soon after, Michael and his wife were
given the opportunity to share their passion for yoga to others and
joyfully serve the North Dayton area and continue to do so today through
Sri Yoga.
Michael, an avid Sakti Vinyasa Yoga practitioner, loves a challenging
Yoga practice balanced with a slower SloFlo Yoga practice. He finds
Yoga to be a life changing practice that can help people become more
peaceful, easeful, and useful. He enjoys practical and inspirational
books on Yoga, Tantra, Vedanta, and Ayurveda and finding ways to apply them
to everyday life. When not at the front desk, taking or teaching
class, he enjoys cooking and going on walks with Melissa and his baby girl
Madeline.
